Our Story
Our Story
It Started with a Trip. It Became a Mission.
OhWa wasn't born in a boardroom. It started on the other side of the world.
The Discovery
In 2014, Spenser Bednarik and Wes Sitser traveled to Southeast Asia right after college. They found fruits they'd never tasted before, in places they'd never been. The flavors were unlike anything back home.
They had one thought: people need to try this.
Shortly after, they launched Mela Watermelon Water. Completely self-funded, no outside investors, just two guys with a vision and a lot of hustle. By 2021, Mela had grown into a major brand and was successfully sold.

Going Global
Instead of slowing down, they used the profits to start a co-packing company in Colombo, Sri Lanka. They wanted to go deeper into the supply chain, closer to the source, and understand how beverages are made from the ground up.
By 2024, Spenser and Wes sold their shares in the co-packing operation to go all-in on their new flagship brand. The one they'd been building toward all along.
A New Category
After years in the beverage industry, they kept seeing the same gap. If you wanted hydration, your options were plain water, sugar-loaded sports drinks, coconut water, or flavored water with nothing real in it.
There was nothing made with actual fruit, real electrolytes, no added sugar, and flavors that went beyond coconut. Fruit water didn't exist as a category. So they created it.
"OhWa was born from the need to share our adventures."
